Supporting the industrialisation of the Grésivaudan area…
…through sustainable development.
The Grenoble region is a highly-attractive industrial basin for companies developing cutting-edge techniques.
STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian semi-conductor manufacturer and world leader in micro-electronic components, is currently building a gigantic production plant in Crolles, in the Isère area.
To ensure water supply to this industrial plant, the Grésivaudan Community of Municipalities has awarded 4 contracts to link the Saint-Ismier reservoirs to the Crolles site via 8km of 600mm-diameter pipelines. SADE (Poitiers-Metz Regional Division) was awarded contract n°3.
Extending the lifespan of networks
For this project, the Grenoble agency recommends Class 50 Electrosteel pipes, which offer pipelines a longer lifespan (50 years). An attractive offer for local authorities who are looking for longer network lifespans and more sustainable solutions.
Works
The project entrusted to SADE consists in the underground laying of 2,460m of 600mm-diameter pipes.
To supply the plant with water, in addition to the cast-iron line, the team is building and equipping a valve chamber, laying 3 triple-function suction pads (150mm-diameter) and 3 drains (200mm-diameter) under manholes.
The pipeline crosses the A41 motorway, requiring the laying of 70m of 600mm-diameter stainless steel piping in corbelling along a facility built by the motorway operator Area to cross over a stream.
The supports for this project were sized and designed by SIng.
Works began in late October 2022. Completion is scheduled for March 2023, following several weeks of pressure testing.
Banking on local supplies
All input materials (sand, gravel and stone) were produced at the Versoud recycling platform, located in the vicinity of the worksite and in compliance with SADE’s CSR engagements for local sourcing and short circuits.
